Would the angels catch Jesus had he jumped off the temple top? ~ Cross reference of Luke 4:10 to Psalm 91:11
If you read Luke 4, Satan tempts Jesus 3 times, you will see that 2 times Luke quotes the right passages from Tanakh in context but for this one he uses a Psalm of David out of context. Psalm 91 is such a beautiful and reassuring Psalm which all of us use when we are headed out to do things that are challenging and uncertain. What I also found strange is that Satan would be convinced if Jesus was saved by angels when he jumps of the temple top that he is indeed the son of god. I can understand the value of a stone becoming bread and a Jew not worshipping anyone / anything but the ONE TRUE G-d of the universe but this jumping down 30 feet and being saved by angels was a bit odd.
