Peter says in this chapter that the believers of Jesus are living stones that are part of a spiritual building that has Jesus as the center. He quotes a few passages from Tanakh to say that this was the plan even before the creation and the Jews just did not get it. He cites that Jesus is the precious corner stone for those whose eyes are open and accept him as their savior. Jesus is the rejected stone for those who rejected him, Jesus is the stumbling stone for those who hear about Jesus but do not accept him. Since peter has covered all the bases, let us see if Tanakh supports this claim. All Images are links to Google Images. Copyright violations not intended. "Salvation", Save", "Savior" in Tanakh ALWAYS means rescue from current physical & political danger. There are probably 3-4 passages that talk about life after death / hell. So you must understand that when Tanakh says savior, it means a person, group of people who will rescue a person or group of people from physical harm. The Greek text uses the same set of words but always mean, rescue from sins, life after death, heaven, hell. In this case Paul uses the word "saved" in the Greek text sense when the quoted passages in Isaiah 10 are about Assyria attacking Israel [10 Northern tribes] because they were exploiting the poor and needy. So Paul twists what the passages are talking about and says, that because Israel followed the law they failed while the gentiles who believed in Jesus have been saved. Let us examine each of the Passages that Paul quotes in context to see if what Paul claims about gentiles is true. All Images are links to Google Image...
