Seeking THE Truth

Why does Mark make Jesus quote a passage from Tanakh that is about false prophets / shepherds. He uses this cross reference to prove that Tanakh prophesied that when Jesus is arrested, all his disciples will be scattered. I could never understand why G-d would strike Jesus[Zechariah says G-d will strike] and his disciples in the first place. Remember Jesus was sent by god to die for our sins.
