god of the living not dead ~ Cross reference of Luke 20:37 to Exodus 3:6

Jesus uses the incident of Moses and the burning bush to say that god is the god of the living and not dead. Tanakh teaches that when G-d is referred to being the G-d of that person, it always when the person is dead. Yes G-d is the G-d of the living but does not mean he will forget the dead. He will raise the dead one day and they too will worship the ONE TRUE G-D of the universe. Not sure why Jesus uses Exodus 3:6 to make this point when at that time the three patriarchs were dead and there is no mention of them being resurrected. Will we be like angels in the messianic age? ~ Cross reference of Mark 12:26 to Exodus 3:6

Some Sadducees come to Jesus and pose him a scenario where the eldest brother dies before he has children from his wife. In succession each of his 7 younger brothers marry the eldest brothers wife and die without having any children. They ask Jesus which brother will have the right to have the wife when they are risen from the dead. They were testing Jesus as Sadducees do not believe in resurrection. Jesus explains that they are wrong as on resurrection, people will be like angels in heaven. What is not clear if the people will be in heaven or on this earth. He then says that god is the god of the living not dead and I have covered that part in another post. Click here to read it. Here we can focus on the angels part that Jesus said and see if this is what Tanakh says. All Images are links to Google Images. Copyright violations not intended. G-d of the Living not dead ~ Cross reference of Matthew 22:32 to Exodus 3:6

Sadducees come to Jesus and call out a scenario of levirate marriage(s) where each of the brothers die after marrying the wife of the oldest brother. Their question was which brother will have her as wife after resurrection. Sadducees do not believe in resurrection or the oral Torah, so I guess they wanted to test Jesus and see if he will say there will be resurrection of the dead or not. Jesus says that there will be a resurrection of the dead and that the resurrected people will be like angels. He quotes Exodus 3:6 to say that G-d is the "G-d of the living not dead" and that the patriarchs are alive and not dead. Tanakh teaches that there will be resurrection of the dead but not as angels in heaven but as flesh and blood this restored earth. This difference aside, Let us see if Abraham, Isaac & Jacob were resurrected and living with G-d in heaven when the angel of G-d appeared to Moses in the burning bush.
