Did Amos prophesy that Paul will bring the gentiles to Jesus? ~ Cross reference of Acts 15:16 to Amos 9:11
If you read Acts 15:1 Luke states that some Jews from Judea came to Antioch and preached that "“Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved”. I think the Jerusalem Church believed that to be a follower of Jesus one needs to convert to Judaism. In a simple sense you still worship the ONE TRUE G-D of the universe and keep his laws. Probably this bothered Paul as he was teaching the gentiles that you don't have to be circumcised or keep the law anymore but all you need to do is believe that Jesus died for you and rose from the grave and you will be saved. This bring him to Jerusalem, James calls out how Cornelius & his family accepted Jesus as lord and were saved, now Paul is being used to bring many more gentiles to believe in Jesus. He quotes Amos to say that Amos prophesied that the gospel of Jesus will be preached to gentiles and they will accept Jesus as their lord and savior and be saved.
