Greatest command? ~ Cross reference of Mark 12:30 to Deuteronomy 6:4
In these passages a teacher of the law comes to Jesus and tests him by asking what is the greatest command. Jesus as a good Jew says the Shema. I applaud him for that. We all need to worship the ONE TRUE G-D of the universe. Jesus quotes the Shema found in Deuteronomy 6 and the command to love your neighbors found in Leviticus 19. G-d gave his people 613 commandments, and 7 commandments for gentiles[Noahides]. Shema covers commandment 1 through 4 of the 10 commandments that G-d gave Israel on Mount Sanai. Commandments 5-10 cover relationship with fellow people. We will not commit any of the negative commands if we love our neighbor as ourselves. All Images are links to Google Images.
