Do what it takes to stay out of hell ~ Cross reference of Mark 9:48 to Isaiah 66:24
In Mark 9:42, Jesus tells what needs to be done to a person who makes a believer in Jesus to stumble. Then he goes onto say how one should amputate the organ(s) [hand, leg & eye] that causes him to sin as it would be better for that person to get into heaven maimed rather than going to hell. Jesus then gives the people a view of what hell will be like. Fortunately Mark does not make Jesus say that this is what will happen if you do not believe in me.
