Are Christians not like grass? ~ Cross reference of 1 Peter 1:23 to Isaiah 40:6-8
Peter is talking about how believers in Jesus are reborn and imperishable through the word of the gospel of Jesus. [Jesus died and rose from the grave and anyone who believes in this is saved from hell]. Though he claims it is the "enduring word of god", it is not what Tanakh teaches. No where in Tanakh does it say that the messiah will be a sinless lamb that will dies for the sins of humans. I think he and the Jerusalem believers were Torah observant and believed Jesus will soon return and fulfill the messianic role he was supposed to perform. It is a well established fact that what the Greek text teaches is not what G-d said in Tanakh, so let us focus on why Peter quoting Isaiah 40 is wrong. All Images are links to Google Images.
