Why did Jesus say he is not good? ~ Cross reference of Luke 18:

When I read the 4 gospel, I see that Jesus never claimed to be god so how did the Christians make Jesus [a] god? Though I had been a Christian for 50 years, I always had an issue in listening to sermons where the pastor talked about Jesus being god in flesh. I think trinity is man made by a bunch of pagan people who had to make him a god as their Greco Roman audiences would never follow someone who is not god. Anyway this trinity a.k.a "then man said let us make god in our own image" has been as much a mystery the people who created it as to the people they have been trying to explain to. That said, this is a clear passage that shows that Jesus says that he is not good and only god is good. He also says the way to eternal life is to follow the law. Ideally he should have said "take it easy, in a few months I will die for your sins and if you believe that you will have eternal life". Should I be poor to be in G-d's kingdom? ~ Cross reference of Mark 10:17 to Exodus 20:12

Though the Greek text has Matthew as the first of the four gospels. scholars believe that mark was first and almost 97% of Mark is adopted by Matthew. You can find this event documented in Matthew & Luke as well.  You can read the post where I covered my thoughts that John the dipper, Jesus, Jesus's disciples, Paul all thought that the end of days was near. After Jesus died and "rose from the grave", the same belief continued, but now they were waiting for Jesus to return in the clouds with his angels to redeem Israel. In this post I will focus on what Jesus said " It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God. " I am sure this was a hyperbole to lay emphasis on the listeners that it is very difficult for a rich man to enter G-d's kingdom. Found a couple of images in Google where they say this is the needle gate that Jesus was referring to. Did not find any research documents that con...

Should the rich strive to become beggars ~ Cross reference of Matthew 19:16 to Exodus 20:12

1st century is understood to be a time when the messianic expectations were very high and everyone believed that very soon the messianic age will begin and the messiah will rule over Israel. Josephus / Talmud record at least three men who came before Jesus claiming they were the messiah and each of them was killed.  The Essenes lived a very pious life in the dessert of Kumaran and thought they would usher in the messianic age by being pure and praying for the messiah to come. I always wondered if the John, Jesus, Jesus's disciples, early followers of Jesus & Paul thought that the end of times was at hand. You see John and Jesus preach "repent, the end is near" John seeing no redemptive actions from Jesus asks Jesus if he is the "one" or they should look for another.   Disciples getting restless not seeing the messianic age repeatedly ask him when he will restore Israel? Jesus & his disciples did not have any livelihood & lived out of the food given t...

To obey the law or practice traditions ~ Cross reference of Mark 7:10 to Exodus 20:12

Image
In Mark 7 "the Pharisees" get a beating from Jesus for asking why Jesus's disciples do not wash their hands before eating. They were right in asking it as one can get infections by eating with dirty hands. Jesus first quotes Isaiah 29 to say that Isaiah prophesied that 700 years later the Pharisees will give more importance to traditions than to the laws of G-d. He then goes onto to use Exodus 20:12 about how they were not obeying the law to honor parents by using the excuse of [Corban] vows to take precedence over the law. He then sums it up all up by saying that what goes in does not defile a person but what comes out from the heart does. All Images are links to Google Images. Copyright violations not intended.
