Did Isaiah Prophecy about god's salvation through Jesus? ~ Cross reference of 2 Corinthians 6:2 to Isaiah 49:8
Paul cross references Isaiah 49:8 to say that the god has provided salvation to man through the blood of Jesus and that this was prophesied by Isaiah.. His claim is that the Christian gospel of faith in Jesus is what Isaiah is talking about. In fact Paul does not even quote the full verse. He takes the portion that supports his purpose and builds this lie. Kind of sad, as if you read Isaiah 49 all it is talking about is G-d providing help to Israel to return to their land. In fact at this time, the exile did not yet happen to the four corners of the globe. There is nothing about saving from sin or Jesus in all of the chapter. A consistent reading the words Save, Salvation, Savior all mean rescuing people from political or physical danger in Tanakh.
