Did Hagar's descendants receive the Torah at mount Saini? ~ Cross reference of Galatians 4:27 to Isaiah 54:1, Galatians 4:30 to Genesis 21:10
Paul does midrash in Galatians 4 and says that Hagar's descendants [from the slave woman] are like people under the law. While the children of Sarah [from the promise of G-d] are the children who have faith[I think in Jesus] Paul claims he is giving a "figurative" illustration, but I say, even a midrash has rules, you cannot turn things on their head and try get what you want from the passage to propagate a lie. Commentaries say that Paul was talking about the region of mount Sanai belonged to Ishmael but that does not justify that Ishmael [child of a slave] got the law or was under the law. The truth is descendants of Sarah are Israel and they are the ones who received the law at mount Sanai. Paul adds a twist that the children of Sarah are the descendants of the heavenly Jerusalem while descendants of Hagar are the children of the earthly Jerusalem.[not sure what this means] Paul then in verse 30 says that god said to get rid of the child of bondwoman as he will not b...
