Are the foolish shaming the wise? ~ Cross reference of 1 Corinthians 1:31 to Jeremiah 9:23

Paul here is addressing the people in Corinth and telling them that god chose them to be believers of Jesus. He makes it very clear that their intellect, influence or pedigree was not the reason that god chose them. He then tells them that they should not boast about how they figured out about the cross and how they got their salvation, but if they wish to boast that should only boast about what the lord did for them on the cross. I think he quotes Jeremiah 9:23 [9:24 in the Greek text] to say that it is written about what he just said in Tanakh. Let us see what Jeremiah 9:23 in context is saying. Paul starts off asserting that the cross is NOT foolishness. I think he was facing opposition from Jews that the gospel he was preaching was not right. The Jews did not accept that the messiah would be killed and then raise on the 3rd day so that the sins of people will be washed away. So rather than dealing with the core issue he was facing, he uses a verse from Tanakh out of context to say that these wise Jews were made fools by G-d as prophesied in Isaiah 29 Interestingly Paul never defends the killing and "resurrection" of Jesus. He just makes an assertion that this is how G-d planned salvation for mankind[he claims that he got these revelations from G-d & Jesus], and then builds his religion based on that axiom. If you know of any passages where he explains that this was prophesied, do let me know. Let's see if Isaiah 29 prophesied that people who do not believe in the "salvation of the cross" have been made foolish so they will not be able to understan...
