Shema? ~ Cross reference of Matthew 22:37 to Deuteronomy 6:4
The context of Matthew 22:37 is one of the "Pharisees" tested Jesus by asking him which is the greatest commandment.
Like any good Jew, Jesus quotes the Shema found in Deuteronomy 6 and the command to love your neighbors found in Leviticus 19.
In essence Jesus took 1-4 of the 10 commandments that are about G-d and 5-10 that are about fellow people and called out these 2 as the great commandments.

Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God; the Lord is one. 5 And you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your means.

- Yes what Jesus said is true.
- The 10 commandments have 4 commands about our love for the ONE TRUE G-D of the universe and 6 commands about the love and just behavior toward our neighbors.
- Jesus spoke well and clearly stated that he is not G-d else he would have said love and honor me.
- I thank Jesus for speaking the truth.
