Do what it takes to stay out of hell ~ Cross reference of Mark 9:48 to Isaiah 66:24

In Mark 9:42, Jesus tells what needs to be done to a person who makes a believer in Jesus to stumble. Then he goes onto say how one should amputate the organ(s) [hand, leg & eye] that causes him to sin as it would be better for that person to get into heaven maimed rather than going to hell.
Jesus then gives the people a view of what hell will be like. Fortunately Mark does not make Jesus say that this is what will happen if you do not believe in me.

All Greek Text references are from NIV and Tanakh references are from Chabad.
My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.
G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.
Mark 9:48 where “‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’[d]
Isaiah 66:22 "For, as the new heavens and the new earth that I am making, stand before Me," says the Lord, "so shall your seed and your name stand. 23 And it shall be from new moon to new moon and from Sabbath to Sabbath, that all flesh shall come to prostrate themselves before Me," says the Lord. 24 "And they shall go out and see the corpses of the people who rebelled against Me, for their worm shall not die, and their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorring for all flesh."
- In Mark 9:48, Jesus uses Isaiah 66:24 to say what hell will be like. Jesus does not say anything about people who do not believe in him going to hell but on the contrary says that people who sin will go to hell.
- I wonder why Jesus does not say "wait a bit longer and I will die for you but make sure you believe in me so you don't go to hell.
- Isaiah 66 is the last chapter of Isaiah. Here G-d is speaking about his awesomeness and how he created the every thing with his hands.
- In verses 3-4 G-d talks about the pagan nations and how he dislikes their life of sin.
- From verse 5-14 talks about his people Israel and how he is going to be with them, protect them and bless them.
- In verse 15-17 G-d talks about how he will come in his fury and destroy the idolaters and nations that do not honor him.
- Verses 18-24 talks about how the rest of the nations that repent and turn to G-d will witness his glory and his love for Israel and will also see how the idolaters have been destroyed.
