Are we all gods? ~ Cross reference of John 10:34 to Psalm 82:1

I will need both the NIV & Chabad versions so we can put to rest the confusion that the Greek text writer fell into. There is nothing about G-d addressing any gods or sons of god. The right word is judge(s) when translated from the Hebrew text.

Basically Asaph the writer of Psalm 82 is talking about how these judges are corrupting justice and G-d says he will end them.

My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.

John 10:34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods”’[d]? 35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside— 36 what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’? 37 Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. 38 But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” 39 Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp.

God stands in the congregation of God; in the midst of the judges He will judge. 2 How long will you judge unjustly and favor the wicked forever? 3 Judge the poor and orphan; justify the humble and the impoverished. 4 Release the poor and the needy; save [them] from the hands of [the] wicked. 5 They did not know and they do not understand [that] they will walk in darkness; all the foundations of the earth will totter. 6 I said, "You are angelic creatures, and all of you are angels[gods] of the Most High." 7 Indeed, as man, you will die, and as one of the princes, you will fall. 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for You inherit all the nations.

[NIV] Psalm 82:1 God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the “gods”: 2 “How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked? 3 Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. 5 “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. 6 “I said, ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’ 7 But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.” 8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.

• I have put a color code for each of the verses where the Greek text translates different in Tanakh to the same word "god(s).
• Not sure why Jesus says "Is it not written in your Law" and quotes Psalm 82. Law or teachings are the first 5 books of Moses [Genesis - Deuteronomy].
• Jesus says that G-d called all of Israel gods when Asaph is talking about the judges that were to rule the people of Israel. 
• In the second part of his statement, he asserts that god sent him. Where in Tanakh does it say he will send his son to die for people. At best Christians can point to Isaiah 53 which is kind of sad as even Christians today are shying away from this cross reference.
• Jesus point of using this Psalm defeats his purpose to say he is the son of god who came to do justice as this Psalm is all about judges that G-d appointed failing to do justice.
• A contextual reading of this Psalm shows that G-d has appointed Judges or Kings over his people, but these people are not judging the poor and needy with justice.
• Verse 1: The right word is human judges not some man-gods.
• Verse 5: These judges did not know how to serve justice to the poor and needy.
• Verse 8: G-d says even though I elevated your stature to be my angels/messengers/gods you have failed to deliver the justice I need you to do. Hence G-d himself will rise up and judge the people justly.
• Jesus seems to say that the Jews are the ones who got the law and hence are important[gods]. He says god sent him and set him aside and so he is greater than the Jews. So be it. 
• This is the save word that G-d uses to say that he will make Moses the lord over Pharaoh
• Exodus 7:1 The Lord said to Moses, "See! I have made you a lord over Pharaoh, and Aaron, your brother, will be your speaker.
