Did babes & suckling's shout praises when Jesus entered Jerusalem? ~ Cross reference of Matthew 21:16 to Psalm 8:1

After Jesus enters Jerusalem, he goes to the temple and drives out the buyers and seller and starts to heal the sick. Children start praising Jesus saying "Hosanna to the Son of David".

"The Pharisees" get offended and ask him if he can hear what these children are saying about him and Jesus quotes Psalm 8. I think Jesus was saying that David wrote about how children will shout out praises to him.

Did David "prophesy" about the event in Matthew 21:16?

This post is not intended to offend anyone's faith but for those people who are Seeking the truth of THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe to who we owe all our love, gratitude & devotion.

My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.

G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.

Matthew 21:16 “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’[g]?”

Psalm 8:1 To the conductor, on the gittith, a song of David. 2 O Lord, our Master, how mighty is Your name in all the earth, for which You should bestow Your majesty upon the heavens. 3 Out of the mouth of babes and suckling's You have established strength because of Your adversaries, in order to put an end to enemy and avenger. 4 When I see Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and stars that You have established, 5 what is man that You should remember him, and the son of man that You should be mindful of him?

  • Psalm 8 is such a beautiful poem written by David where he is talking about how awesome & mighty THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe is.
  • David is verse 2 says from the mouth of babes and suckling's G-d has established strength so that the enemy may be put to an end while Matthew says they praised Jesus for healing people.
  • Rabbis think that when David says "babes and suckling's" he is talking about small and helpless nation of Israel is able to defeat its enemies.
  • This Psalm is not about Jesus for sure, as he was killed by the Romans 3 days later while the last part of verse 3 says that the enemy is destroyed.
  • Even if this Psalm was about Jesus, the best these babes and suckling's would have said was gaaaaga, goooogu
