Are Christians who question the faith crafty? ~ Cross reference of 1 Corinthians 3:19-20 to Job 5:12, Psalm 94:11
In this chapter, Paul is grappling with an issue of the church in Corinth having fights internally who is greater between Paul or someone called Apollos. He explains to them only god is great and he grows the church not mere humans.
I think he trying to tell the church elders in Corinth that they should try to preach any new teachings because the foundation is Jesus and each of them should build on top of this foundation of Jesus with the talents that Jesus gave them. He further warns that people who try to tear down the church will be destroyed by god.
Finally he tells these leaders not to use their own wisdom and come up with any new teachings, because a person who thinks he is wise will become a fool.
Paul cross references Job 5:12 to say that god makes wise people wise.

All Greek Text references are from NIV and Tanakh references are from Chabad.
My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.
G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.
1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”;
1 Corinthians 3:20 and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”
Job 5:12 He frustrates the plans of the crafty, so that their hands do not carry out their plans.
Psalm 94:11 The Lord knows man's thoughts that they are vanity.
- This cross reference does not have much of a theological impact so will not worry too much. Let us just call out on the context of what Job is talking about and move to the next one.
- Eliphaz the Temanite starts his response to Job in Chapter 4 and he talks about how righteous G-d is does good to the righteous and punishes the wicked.
- In Job 5:12, Job is saying that G-d will make the plans of the wicked person to fail. So Paul using this passage to say that church leader's plans to bring unrest in the church of Corinth makes sense.
- In Psalm 94 David is talking about wicked people who were exploiting the poor, widow, orphans
- David is asking G-d to destroy these wicked people.
- In verse 11 that Paul quotes, David is saying that these wicked people's plans will come to naught.
