Do Christians have the mind of Jesus? ~ Cross reference of 1 Corinthians 2:16 to Isaiah 40:13

Paul in this passage is saying that Christians have been given a spirit of god and the mind of Jesus. This spirit is what allows Christians to see who Jesus was. Jews did not have this spirit but were using their own understanding and hence were not able to appreciate that Jesus was the messiah who came to die for their sins if they believed in Jesus.

Also one contradictory point Paul makes, is because the Jews did not have the spirit of god they crucified Jesus. This contradicts the belief of Christian theology that Jesus had to die so people who believe in him will be saved from their sins.

So why does Paul complain, when the Jews HAD to be blinded and Judas HAD to be possessed by Satan so Jesus could die on the cross?

He quotes Isaiah 40:13 to prove that this was spoken by Isaiah.

This post is not intended to offend anyone's faith but for those people who are Seeking the truth of THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe to who we owe all our love, gratitude & devotion.

My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.

G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.

1 Corinthians 2:16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Isaiah 40:13 Who meted the spirit of the Lord, and His adviser who informs Him?
  • Isaiah 1-39 are chapters where G-d is giving a harsh message to Israel through Isaiah and from Chapter 40-66 G-d is talking about how he will restore Israel.
  • Isaiah 40 is the start of the restoration chapters and you see it starts with G-d asking Isaiah to console Israel.
  • Then through verse 2-11, Isaiah talks about how G-d's glory will be revealed during the start of the messianic age. G-d talks about how he will gather and tend for Israel like a good shepherd cares for his sheep.
  • From verse 12-31 Isaiah Talks about the awesomeness of G-d and how he formed the whole universe.
  • Verse 13 just says the opposite of what Paul claims. This verse says, who gave G-d wisdom to do all this amazing things. [Rhetorical question. Very similar to what you see in Job]
  • Paul quotes that this wisdom has been given to Christians when all the passage is talking about, is the wisdom of G-d and how he only has this wisdom.
  • The rest of the chapter is about how the gentile nations and the gods of these nations are nothing but dust. There is nothing about this wisdom being given to anyone. This is just an assertion of Paul.
  • Isaiah 40 ends with the promise that those who trust in the ONE TRUE G-D of the universe will not be weary.
    • Isaiah 40:29 Who gives the tired strength, and to him who has no strength, He increases strength. 30 Now youths shall become tired and weary, and young men shall stumble. 31 But those who put their hope in the Lord shall renew [their] vigor, they shall raise wings as eagles; they shall run and not weary, they shall walk and not tire.
  • Read some of the passaged below and see for yourself where you see that G-d is the only one who has this amazing wisdom. I agree & Amen.
    • Isaiah 40:12 Who measured water with his gait, and measured the heavens with his span, and measured by thirds the dust of the earth, and weighed mountains with a scale and hills with a balance?
    • Isaiah 40:14 With whom did He take counsel give him to understand, and teach him in the way of justice, and teach him knowledge, and the way of understandings did He let him know?
    • Isaiah 40:22 It is He Who sits above the circle of the earth, and whose inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heaven like a curtain, and He spread them out like a tent to dwell.
    • Isaiah 40:23 Who brings princes to nought, judges of the land He made like a thing of nought.
    • Isaiah 40:25 "Now, to whom will you compare Me that I should be equal?" says the Holy One.
    • Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high and see, who created these, who takes out their host by number; all of them He calls by name; because of His great might and because He is strong in power, no one is missing.
