Is Isaiah 52 about Paul and Christian preachers bringing the good news about Jesus? ~ Cross reference of Romans 10:14 to Isaiah 52:7

Once Paul established [at least he thinks] that Jews and gentiles are all same and can only be saved by believing in Jesus, he quotes Isaiah 52:7 to say that, Isaiah prophesied that Paul and his followers will take this "good news" out into all the world.

He also says that not all Israel accepted Jesus and this was in line with what Isaiah prophesied in Isaiah 53:1

See how nicely & easily Paul and his followers have found prophecies about themselves in Tanakh.

Let us see what this good news is that Isaiah was talking about.

This post is not intended to offend anyone's faith but for those people who are Seeking the truth of THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe to who we owe all our love, gratitude & devotion.

My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.

G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.

Romans 10:14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[g]

Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful are the feet of the herald on the mountains, announcing peace, heralding good tidings, announcing salvation, saying to Zion, "Your God has manifested His kingdom."

Isaiah 53:1 Who would have believed our report, and to whom was the arm of the Lord revealed?

  • Isaiah 52 is such a beautiful chapter that talk about how G-d plans to redeem Israel. It starts off in Verse 1 where G-d is telling Israel to stand up and be bold for the gentiles will no more come near you.
    • Isaiah 52:1 Awaken, awaken, put on your strength, O Zion; put on the garments of your beauty, Jerusalem the Holy City, for no longer shall the uncircumcised or the unclean continue to enter you.
  • G-d then talks about how his people were in Egypt where they were enslaved but Egypt gave them a place to live while Assyria came and took them into Exile for no reason. G-d says he is upset with the enemies of Israel and he will gather Israel back to himself.
    • Isaiah 52:5 "And now, what have I here," says the Lord, "that My people has been taken for nothing. His rulers boast," says the Lord, "and constantly all day My name is blasphemed.
  • G-d says that he will gather his people back to him and they will know that he is the ONE TRUE G-D of the universe.
    • Isaiah 52:6 Therefore, My people shall know My name; therefore, on that day, for I am He Who speaks, here I am."
  • So what is the good news that G-d wants proclaimed? You see right in verses 8-10
    • Isaiah 52:8 The voice of your watchmen they raised a voice, together they shall sing, for eye to eye they shall see when the Lord returns to Zion. 9 Burst out in song, sing together, O ruins of Jerusalem, for the Lord has consoled His people; He has redeemed Jerusalem. 10 The Lord has revealed His holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
  • This is the good news that G-d wants proclaimed. Not like Paul wants you to think that "Jesus died for you and if you believe in this you will go to heaven"
  • G-d then tells Israel to wash yourselves clean and return to him and he will lift Israel above all the nations.
    • Isaiah 52:11 Turn away, turn away, get out of there, touch no unclean one; get out of its midst, purify yourselves, you who bear the Lord's vessels. 12 For not with haste shall you go forth and not in a flurry of flight shall you go, for the Lord goes before you, and your rear guard is the God of Israel. 13 Behold My servant shall prosper; he shall be exalted and lifted up, and he shall be very high.
  • The G-d says that when Israel is lifted up, all the nations will see and kings of these nations will shut their mouth and they will say "Who would have believed our report, and to whom was the arm of the Lord revealed?". Paul uses this passage to say that Isaiah prophesied that all of Israel will not believe in Jesus.
    • Isaiah 52:14 As many wondered about you, "How marred his appearance is from that of a man, and his features from that of people!" 15 So shall he cast down many nations; kings shall shut their mouths because of him, for, what had not been told them they saw, and [at] what they had not heard they gazed. Isaiah 53:1 Who would have believed our report, and to whom was the arm of the Lord revealed?
