This post is not intended to offend anyone's faith but for those people who are Seeking the truth of THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe to who we owe all our love, gratitude & devotion.
My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.
G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.
Romans 10:11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[e]
Isaiah 28:16 Therefore, so has the Lord God said: "Behold, I have laid as a foundation a stone in Zion, a fortress stone, a costly cornerstone, a foundation well founded; the believer shall not hasten.
- This chapter is about the wickedness of the leaders of Ephraim [10 northern tribes] and to some extent Judah also [though less]. These leaders were doing injustice.
- Isaiah 28:3 With the feet, they shall be trampled, the crown of the pride of the drunkards of Ephraim. 7 These, too, erred because of wine and strayed because of strong wine; priest and prophet erred because of strong wine, they became corrupt because of wine; they went astray because of strong wine, they erred against the seer, they caused justice to stumble.
- These leaders boast that no one can destroy them not even death.
- Isaiah 28:15 For you said, "We have made a treaty with death, and with the grave we have set a limit; when an overflowing scourge passes, it shall not come upon us, for we have made lies our shelter and in falsehood have we hidden ourselves.
- G-d says, that he has laid a stone in the foundation of Zion and anyone who believes that a redeemer will come to Zion will not fear the enemy.
- Paul inserts Jesus into this passage to say that Jesus is this stone and anyone who believes in Jesus, their sins will be forgiven.
- In all fairness where do you see anything about sin or forgiveness or heaven or hell in this passage? All this passage is saying is that let the believer not try to hasten it but wait for it. The Greek version changes this to "stricken with panic"
- [Chabad] Isaiah 28:16 Therefore, so has the Lord God said: "Behold, I have laid as a foundation a stone in Zion, a fortress stone, a costly cornerstone, a foundation well founded; the believer shall not hasten.
- [NIV] Isaiah 28:16 So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic."
- Isaiah 28 says that G-d will be the redeemer of the just people not any messiah [human]
- Isaiah 28:5 On that day, the Lord of Hosts shall be for a crown of beauty and for a diadem of glory, for the rest of His people.
- Paul’s theology that sinners who believe in Jesus will be saved is just the opposite of Isaiah 28. Isaiah 28 says that the just will not have to worry as the messiah will rule justly and protect them from enemies.
- There is nothing about wicked people can believe in the messiah and be saved nor that the messiah will save the wicked people if they believe in him.
