Are G-d's promises to Israel transferable to gentiles? ~ Cross reference of Hebrews 13:5 to Deuteronomy 31:6, Psalm 118:6

There is not much theology involved in this cross reference. Hebrews 13 is a closing letter to the audience. The author is leaving a set of commands and expectations from the audience.

That said, only issue I see is the Christians claiming promises G-d gave Israel for themselves.

Kind of incorrect as they claim the promises and denounce the asks of G-d.

All Greek Text references are from NIV and Tanakh references are from Chabad.

This post is not intended to offend anyone's faith but for those people who are Seeking the truth of THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe to who we owe all our love, gratitude & devotion.

My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.

G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” 6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous! Neither fear, nor be dismayed of them, for the Lord, your God He is the One Who goes with you. He will neither fail you, nor forsake you."

Psalm 118:6 The Lord is for me; I shall not fear. What can man do to me? 7 The Lord is for me with my helpers, and I shall see [revenge] in my enemies.
  • Both the cross references are for a specific audience & for a situation. Most importantly, the promise in Deuteronomy is Moses telling the people that G-d's promise is there for them if they obey the law. This conditional promise is ignored by Christians and take the promise and ignore the command.
  • Psalm 118 is about David saying that G-d is his protector not G-d telling David that he will protect David.
  • There are several passages where G-d promises through a prophet that he will protect Israel. Not sure why Hebrews does not quote those passages.
