Was Jesus sinless & without deceit? ~ Cross refence of 1 Peter 2:22 to Isaiah 53:9

Peter asserts that Jesus was a perfect sacrifice that takes away the sins of all the people that believe in him. He had to be sinless and without deceit or lies in order to be a potent sacrifice once and for all.

This is a hard claim as both Greek text and Tanakh contradict it. Let me explain.

All Greek Text references are from NIV and Tanakh references are from Chabad.

This post is not intended to offend anyone's faith but for those people who are Seeking the truth of THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe to who we owe all our love, gratitude & devotion.

My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.

G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.

1 Peter 2:22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”

Isaiah 53:9 And he gave his grave to the wicked, and to the wealthy with his kinds of death, because he committed no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.

  • The claim that Jesus was sinless and without deceit is a bit hard to accept as both the Greek texts and Tanakh do not support this claim.
  • As per Tanakh, there is no righteous man who has not sinned.
  • Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is no righteous man on earth who does good and sins not.
  • Job 15:14 “What are mortals, that they could be pure, or those born of woman, that they could be righteous?
  • There are several instances where Jesus acts with deceit. He could have done this to with the goal to "Defeat Satan", conceal his identity or not get into trouble with the Romans, Jews etc. but the fact that he was not honest shows that he indeed had deceit in him
  • Below are just a select from Matthew. If you compile a list from all 4 gospels you will find at least 100 such situations.
    • John 7:8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet full come. 10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
    • Matthew 8:3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
    • Matthew 8:21 Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 22 But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
    • Matthew 8:32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water
    • Matthew 9:29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; 30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them Matthew sternly, “See that no one knows about this.
    • Matthew 12:39 He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah
    • Matthew 12:46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” 48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?
    • Matthew 17:9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
    • Matthew 21:18 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. 19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.
  • All this said, why should Christians make a big deal of this if Jesus was god or son of god or a divine being, Angel Superior? He is expected to be sinless right?
    • Also one thing that always bothered me on the good news....
    • god lost control on Satan.
    • Satan took god head on and made man sin
    • God had a son and he sent him under disguise[deceit] to defeat his enemy
    • His son came and died on the cross 2000 years ago
    • Anyone who believes in his son will go to heaven
    • Anyone who does not believe in his son will go to hell
    • Certainly this must be a different god who loses control on his creation and has to resort to deceit to get back control. This god does not seem to be my G-d who said very different things in Tanakh.
