Did David call Jesus lord? ~ Cross reference of Matthew 26:64 to Psalms 110:1 & Daniel 7:13
You will find very few cross references of passages about Love, Thanks, Awe, Courage that David expresses to G-d because it does not align with the Christian beliefs as for them Jesus is god.
Lets see how strong these cross references are to show that Jesus was the lord of David and that he will come in the clouds.
Don't you think it is odd that the Greek text had to pick verses from different parts of Tanakh to make a proof text about Jesus being the messiah?
This post is not intended to offend anyone's faith but for those people who are Seeking the truth of THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe to who we owe all our love, gratitude & devotion.
My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.
G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.
Matthew 26:64 “You have said so,” Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”[e]
Psalm 110:1 Of David a psalm. The word of the Lord to my master; "Wait for My right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool at your feet."
Daniel 7:13 I saw in the visions of the night, and behold with the clouds of the heaven, one like a man was coming, and he came up to the Ancient of Days and was brought before Him. 14 And He gave him dominion and glory and a kingdom, and all peoples, nations, and tongues shall serve him; his dominion is an eternal dominion, which will not be removed, and his kingdom is one which will not be destroyed.
The context of Matthew 26:64 is that Jesus is handed over to the Sanhedrin and the chief priest asks him under oath to confirm if he was the "son of god". For some reason Jesus converts a question into a statement and says "you have SAID so"
He then goes onto say from now on you will see the son of man sitting at the right hand of the mighty one [Psalm 110] and coming in the clouds of heaven [Daniel 7]
Let us dive into these two cross references and see if they are valid to support the claim Matthew makes Jesus to make.
Psalm 110

Daniel 7:11 I saw then from the sound of the arrogant words that the horn spoke, I looked until the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and given to a flame of fire. 12 But as for the other beasts, their dominion was removed, and they were given an extension of life until a set time.
Daniel 7:27 And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under all the heavens will be given to the people of the high holy ones; its kingdom is a perpetual kingdom, and all dominions will serve and obey [it]."

Psalm 110

- This is a Psalm written by David. How do we know? It says "Of David a Psalm" Most Psalms have the header that says who wrote it and for who it was written.
- David is saying that his G-d told him to sit at G-d's right hand until G-d makes his enemies his footstool.
- The second lord used in this verse is Adoni which means a human master and not any heavenly being. I have seen some versions of the Greek text put the Tetragrammaton in both the first and second lord which is very wrong.
- All these points show that this passage does not support Matthew's assertion of Jesus's place at the right hand of god was established in Tanakh.
- All the below verses use the word Adoni which refers to a human being.
- Genesis 24:34
- Genesis 32:5, 6, 19
- Genesis 33:8, 12, 14, 15
- 1 Sam 24:8
- 1 Kings 1:2, 17Daniel 7
- Daniel 7 is about a vision that Daniel has. He sees 4 beasts coming out of the water and he is disturbed. You read in chapter 9 that he prays to G-d and Gabriel is sent to explain this dream to him that these are 4 nations that will rule the earth.
- Lion - Babylon [Already dominating the world at Daniels time]
- Bear - Persia
- Leopard - Greece
- Ugly beast with 10 horns - Rome
- If you read verse 9-10 it says that G-d's thrones were setup and he sat on it and established justice.
- Verse 11-12 says that the the horn that emerged last spoke arrogant words against G-d and was killed. Rabbis say this last horn was Titus. The other 3 beasts were also destroyed after being given a grace period.
- Verse 13 is talking about the messiah and he will be given the power to rule the earth after Rome is destroyed which means this was not talking about Jesus as Rome was quite well during his time and they were the ones that killed him. Unfortunately Daniel 7:13 does not say the messiah will be killed and then he will come back and rule.
- If you read verse 27 you will see further details of who will rule and here we see that the people of the high holy ones will rule the world along with the messiah.
- This prophecy is yet to be fulfilled and Christians say Jesus will do it when he comes back. I pray the messianic age and the messiah come during our time.
Daniel 7:9 I was looking until thrones were set up, and the Ancient of Days sat; His raiment was as white as snow, and the hair of His head was like clean wool; His throne was sparks of fire, its wheels were a burning fire. 10 A river of fire was flowing and emerging from before Him; a thousand thousands served Him, and ten thousand ten thousands arose before Him. Justice was established, and the books were opened.
