Was Jesus supposed to return before his generation died? ~ Cross reference of Mark 13:14 to Daniel 13:14

In Mark 13, Jesus prophesies about the destruction of the temple. When Peter, James, John & Andrew ask Jesus in private when all these things will be fulfilled. Jesus give a list of things that will happen before the end comes.
  • Many false prophets will come each claiming he is Jesus.
  • Wars and rumors of war [Nations will rise against nations, Kingdoms against Kingdoms.]
  • Earthquakes and famines.
  • Disciples [believers] in Jesus will be arrested and flogged in synagogues.
  • Disciples [believers] will be arrested and will have to stand before governors and kings [I think he suggests that this will be a good time to talk about Jesus to these leaders]
  • When Disciples [believers] are arrested they should not worry about what to say as the Holy spirit will speak on their behalf.
  • Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child.
  • Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
  • Everyone will hate disciples [believers] because of Jesus
  • Then the abomination of desolation will happen.
  • Days will be cut short so that the disciples [ believers] do not suffer for many days / years.
  • False messiahs will person amazing miracles and deceive people and even some of the disciples [elect] will move away from believing in Jesus.
  • The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light.
  • The stars will fall from the sky and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
  • Silver line is the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Jesus says after all the above happen he will return in clouds with great power and glory. He will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.[I think this is what Christians call the rapture]

Jesus assures the 4 disciples that this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.

G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.

Mark 13:14 “When you see ‘the abomination that causes desolation’[a] standing where it[b] does not belong—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15 Let no one on the housetop go down or enter the house to take anything out. 16 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 17 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 18 Pray that this will not take place in winter, 19 because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now—and never to be equaled again.

Daniel 9:26 And after the sixty-two weeks, the anointed one will be cut off, and he will be no more, and the people of the coming monarch will destroy the city and the Sanctuary, and his end will come about by inundation, and until the end of the war, it will be cut off into desolation. 27 And he will strengthen a covenant for the princes for one week, and half the week he will abolish sacrifice and meal- offering, and on high, among abominations, will be the dumb one, and until destruction and extermination befall the dumb one.

Daniel 11:31 And arms from him will stand, and they will profane the Sanctuary, the stronghold, and they will remove the daily sacrifice, and place a silent abomination.

Daniel 12:11 And from the time the daily sacrifice was removed and the silent abomination placed, is one thousand, two hundred, and ninety.
