Does G-d justify the ungodly? ~ Cross reference of Romans 4:4 to Psalm 32:1

Paul makes bold statements and quotes Tanakh to push his theology that we are justified by faith and not works. What amazes me is why Christians do not take time to lookup what Tanakh says. If they read Tanakh in context, they will find that what he quotes is wrong or out of context.

In this case he stats that G-d justifies the ungodly. If you read the cross reference he uses in Psalm 32, you will see that G-d forgives the wicked if they repent with all their heart and turn away from their sins and obey the laws of G-d and make effort to be righteous.

This is what G-d says over and over. Repent, turn away from sin, turn to me [obey my laws].

Ezekiel 18:21 “But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.

I think Paul twists the truth so he can win souls for Jesus? Can we trust this kind of person and his teachings?

This post is not intended to offend anyone's faith but for those people who are Seeking the truth of THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe to who we owe all our love, gratitude & devotion.

My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.

G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.

Romans 4:4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: 7 “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”

Psalm 32:2 Praiseworthy is the man to whom the Lord ascribes no iniquity and in whose spirit there is no guile.
  • Paul makes two false statements 1. "god justifies the ungodly". 2. "blessed is the one to whom god credits righteousness apart from works"
  • When we sin, we need to repent with sincerely and G-d is merciful to forgive us. This does not mean we can go back to doing evil things and still be counted as righteous.
Let us see if Psalm 32 supports what he says.
  • In verse 1, David says that blessed is the person whose transgressions are forgiven by G-d and their sin is concealed [removed] because they repented wholeheartedly.
  • Psalm 32:1 Of David, a maskil Praiseworthy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is concealed.
  • Verse 2 David says this person has his sins forgiven because there is no cunningness in him and he has truly repented. This is the ONLY way to forgiveness of sins. You will find several passages in Tanakh that talk about the key to forgiveness of sins is repentance.
  • Psalm 32:2 Praiseworthy is the man to whom the Lord ascribes no iniquity and in whose spirit there is no guile.
  • In verse 5 David says he has confessed to G-d all his sins and has not concealed any sins and because he did this, G-d has forgiven him.
  • Psalm 32:5 I would inform You of my sin, and I did not conceal my iniquity; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord," and You forgave the iniquity of my sin forever.
  • In verse 8 & 9 David says, G-d will guide him on the right path and he has to obey G-d and do what is right. G-d tells him David needs to follow the path and be close to G-d.
  • Psalm 32:8 "I will enlighten you and instruct you which way [to go]; I will wink My eye to you." 9 Be not like a horse, like a mule that does not discern; whose mouth must be held with bit and bridle, so that when he is being groomed, he does not come near you.
  • in verse 10 David says that G-d will bless the people who do good but will punish the wicked people.
  • Psalm 32:10 Many are the pains of the wicked, but as for him who trusts in the Lord- kindness will encompass him.
  • In verse 11 David says that the righteous should rejoice in G-d and stay righteous so G-d can bless them
  • Psalm 32:11 Rejoice with the Lord and exult, You righteous, and cause all those of upright hearts to sing praises.
  • Where is Paul's theology that god justifies the ungodly or god will justify someone by this faith and not works?
