What is the messiah supposed to do? ~ Cross reference of Romans 11:26 to Isaiah 59:20

Paul once again had to lie to establish that Jesus came to die for the sins of people so he takes the liberty to change the passage in Isaiah 59 to say just the opposite of what it says. Paul then quotes Jeremiah 31:30 to seal the deal that through Jesus a new covenant has been established for the believers of Jesus

Let us see if Isaiah 59 & Jeremiah 31 says what Paul claims.

This post is not intended to offend anyone's faith but for those people who are Seeking the truth of THE ONE TRUE G-D of the universe to who we owe all our love, gratitude & devotion.

My encouragement to you is that you read the whole chapter of Tanakh that the Greek text quotes so you get the context and understand what G-d actually said.

G-d Bless and Seek THE Truth.

Romans 11:25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way[e] all Israel will be saved. As it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. 27 And this is[f] my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”[g]

[Chabad] Isaiah 59:20 And a redeemer shall come to Zion, and to those who repent of transgression in Jacob, says the Lord. 21 "As for Me, this is My covenant with them," says the Lord. "My spirit, which is upon you and My words that I have placed in your mouth, shall not move from your mouth or from the mouth of your seed and from the mouth of your seed's seed," said the Lord, "from now and to eternity."

[NIV] Isaiah 59:20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins, ”declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 31:30 Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, and I will form a covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, a new covenant. 31 Not like the covenant that I formed with their forefathers on the day I took them by the hand to take them out of the land of Egypt, that they broke My covenant, although I was a lord over them, says the Lord. 32 For this is the covenant that I will form with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will place My law in their midst and I will inscribe it upon their hearts, and I will be their God and they shall be My people.

Isaiah 59
  • If you read Isaiah 59:20 you will see that G-d is saying that the messiah will come to those who repent from their sins in Jacob. Paul states just the opposite and says messiah will come to remove sin from Jacob.
  • Christians claim that Paul was quoting from the Septuagint. Kind of sad as even todays version of NIV says exactly what Tanakh says. I conclude, that Paul "had to do whatever it takes, even if he has to lie"
  • If you read Isaiah 59:21, G-d says that this is a covenant [promise] with Jacob for eternity and will happen one day. I await for this day and hope it happens during our time.
  • Jeremiah 31
  • The new covenant that Jeremiah is talking about is with Jacob and and has nothing to do with the gentiles.
  • G-d says this covenant will be written in the heart of the people so they will do it. Paul claims this is the "Jesus Covenant - Grace" and since it is in the heart it is faith and not works.
  • This is far from the truth as this passage is talking about the law being the will be in the heart not faith in the heart. Second G-d is saying that the law in the heart means that people will do the law with all their heart and soul rather than doing the law as a requirement.
  • See the below verses that talk about how having the law in the heart means joy in doing it.
    • Psalm 37:31 The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.
    • Psalm 40:8 I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.”
    • Psalm 119:7 I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.
    • Psalm 119:34 Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.
