Did David prophesy that god will ask Jesus to sit at his right hand? ~ Cross reference of Acts 2:32 to Psalm 110:1

Image
Peter asserts that David wrote 1700 years before Jesus was to rise from the grave that god will ask Jesus to sit on his right hand till he destroys all his enemies. Not clear who were these enemies of Jesus that were destroyed. Let us see what Psalm 110 actually says All Images are links to Google Images. Copyright violations not intended. Did David prophesy that Jesus will rise from the grave? ~ Cross reference of Acts 2:24 to Psalm 16:9

Image
Peter quotes Psalm 16 to say that David prophesied that Jesus will be risen from the grave. Did he actually talk about Jesus and that too after 3 days he will come back to life. This is a key belief of the Christian faith to prove that Jesus defeated death [I guess sin as well].  Paul tries to fix this by claiming that Jesus rose in spirit and not in flesh. We will cover this when we get the the letters of Paul. Let is examine Psalm 16 to see if David was writing about Jesus and if so was he talking about being Jesus being raised after 3 days. Did prophecy return on day of Pentecost? ~ Cross reference of Acts 2:14 to Joel 3:1

Image
Peter was meant to be the rock [foundation] of Jesus's church and in the first few chapters of Acts you see him do just that. He is boldly standing up for Jesus and telling people how Jesus died for their sins. After the Cornelius event, Peter goes into oblivion and the Church of Jesus was lead by Paul. Wonder who changed the plan? This event is on the day of Pentecost where the 120 odd people in an upper room were praying and the holy spirit came down as tongues of fire and all these started speaking in different languages that Jesus died for people sins and anyone who believes in him will be saved from hell. Peter then quotes Joel 3 to say this was expected as at the end of times, this was to happen as prophesied by Joel. Let us examine Joel 3 to see if this is true. They will look on him whom they pierced ~ Cross reference of John 19:37 to Zechariah 12:10

Image
If one reads the whole of Zechariah 12 they will easily understand that this has nothing to do with Jesus. It is a prophecy that is yet to happen and will happen when G-d brings in the messianic age. Let me share what this chapter is all about and you can see how this has nothing to do with Jesus dying on the cross and people looking at him. All Images are links to Google Images. Was Jesus the Passover lamb? ~ Cross reference of John 19:36 to Exodus 12:46

Image
The Passover is such an important event in the history of G-d's people. They celebrate this event every year to remember the exodus out of  slavery from Egypt.  It is a historical event and has nothing to do with atonement of sins as Christians want to make it. I will call out some reasons why Jesus is not the Passover lamb in this post. All Images are links to Google Images. Copyright violations not intended. Why did the soldiers cast lots for Jesus's garments? ~ Cross reference of John 19:23 to Psalm 22:19

Image
I wonder why the Roman soldiers cast lots for his garments. Were they not provided clothing by the Romans? or did they think that Jesus's garment was victory trophy? or were Jesus's clothes very expensive or was it to fulfill what David wrote in Psalm 22? Could it be the gospel writers [church father(s)] came up with the crucifixion details based on Tanakh passages when they started writing this gospel between 40-80 years after the crucifixion? Anyway let us see why David did not prophecy about Jesus crucifixion in Psalm 22 All Images are links to Google Images. Copyright violations not intended. Did the Jews hate G-d? ~ Cross reference of John 15:23 to Psalm 35:19

Image
Jesus makes three claims here That god sent him and he is gods son. He did many miracles but yet the Jews did not believe in him. That the Jews hated both Jesus and god Point 1 & point 2 are not supported by Tanakh. The messiah will not be divine as the Greek text claims Jesus to be but a human born in the line of David.  There is no mention of the messiah doing miracles like healing, preaching, feeding or raising up people from the dead. He will be a royal descendent of David who will rule as the king of Israel. As for point 3, the Jews loved their G-d and were challenging the claims Jesus was making like the Torah teaches them to do when someone comes around and says they are prophets. This cannot be called hate.  All that said, let us see of the Psalms that the Greek text cross references support Jesus's claim. All Images are links to Google Images. Did David prophesy that Judas will betray Jesus ~ Cross reference of John 13:18 to Psalm 41:10

Image
Jesus says that Judas had to betray him to that the prophesy that David made 1700 years earlier will be fulfilled. Kind of weird but let us go with this. I think the real reason why Jesus was crucified was because of the commotion he created when he came into Jerusalem. The Romans were very alert during the festival times where huge crowds of Jews came to Jerusalem to worship at the temple. I suspect that they was nervous that Jesus was creating a lot of excitement and that too people were shouting "Blessed is the king of Israel!". Pilate was a very stern prefect and he would not allow anyone to be called the kind of Israel. So in a way Jesus was already in the radar of the Romans and they would have crucified him just like they did 100,000 Jews in the period they ruled Israel. Sad part is the gospel writers put the blame on the Jews and for 2000 years Christians have been persecuting Israel for all the wrong reasons. G-d has seen the pain they have suffered but not left the

Does Isaiah 6:8 prophesy that the Jews will not believe in Jesus ~ Cross reference of John 12:39 to Isaiah 6:8

Image
Yet again we see a cross reference to Isaiah 6:8-10 to prove that the Jews were not supposed to  understand who Jesus was. I already have a post on this. Click here to read why Isaiah 6 has nothing to do with Jesus. What also intrigues me is that John says that Isaiah saw Jesus's glory when the passage is about a vision that Isaiah see's G-d's glory. Even by the definition of "trinity", the "persons" are different so John combining the persons does not make sense. All Images are links to Google Images. Copyright violations not intended. Who would have believed our report ~ Cross reference of John 12:37 to Isaiah 53:1

Image
Isaiah 52:13 to Isaiah 53:12 are the go to passages for Christians to show that Jesus died according to the scriptures to save all those who believe in him. What strikes me as odd is that none of the disciples believed in the dying messiah and you see this clearly when Peter rebukes Jesus for saying that he must die. Even after his "resurrection", they ask him when he will restore Israel and not when will you take us to heaven. Gospels fix these issues by saying that after Jesus explained all these things to them after his resurrection they understood. But then you see all of them abandon the Jesus movement and go back to fishing. Then in Acts you see the holy spirit coming and resting on them and then the Jesus bunch get into action. This does not last long and dies out in 2-3 decades. Paul who never met Jesus, turbo charges to form Christianity he claims is given by the "risen Jesus" and the whole law goes out of the window to be replaced by faith and grace. Final

Jesus entry into Jerusalem ~ Cross reference of John 12:12 to Psalm 118:26

Image
I don't think I have much to add here as this is the 4th gospel that records Jesus's entry into Jerusalem. This is very important for the Christian as they think this establishes the crucial link of Jesus to what Zachariah 9:9 prophesied. Like all the other 3 gospels, John also cross references Psalm 118:26 to say what the people will say when Jesus enters Jerusalem. A few points to call out are In the previous 3 gospels, the people shout out "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" when Jesus rides on the donkey(s) while in John, they start cheering him even before he sits on the donkey.[I guess they continued to cheer even after he got onto the donkey] Jesus finds a donkey on him own and does not have ask his disciples to get him one or two donkeys [depends on which gospel you read] you so he can fulfill what Zechariah said. John explains that except Jesus no one know about the Zechariah's prophecy [messiah will make a triumphant entry into Jerusalem].

The poor you will always have ~ Cross reference of John 12:7 to Deuteronomy 15:11

Image
In Deuteronomy 15:11 G-d says, the poor will always be in the land and so you need to make sure you take care of them. Jesus said, the poor you will always have so this time you take care of me. Given he was going to die for the sins of all the people who believe in him, I guess it is a small ask. Only point I wish to make is the cross reference and what Jesus said do not agree. Are we all gods? ~ Cross reference of John 10:34 to Psalm 82:1

Image
I will need both the NIV & Chabad versions so we can put to rest the confusion that the Greek text writer fell into. There is nothing about G-d addressing any gods or sons of god. The right word is judge(s) when translated from the Hebrew text. Basically Asaph the writer of Psalm 82 is talking about how these judges are corrupting justice and G-d says he will end them. Will only people who god sends to Jesus will come to Jesus? ~ Cross reference of John 6:45 to Isaiah 53:13

Image
I am totally lost on this cross reference. Where in Isaiah 54 do you see anything about the messiah. All I can read is the ONE TRUE G-D of the universe making an amazing promise of restoration of Jerusalem and Judah. This is yet to happen and I pray that it happen during our time. Is Jesus our bread that came down from heaven? ~ Cross reference of John 6:31 to Exodus 16:4

Image
If you read Deuteronomy 13, G-d tells Israel how to identify a false prophet. The prophet must prophesy events that no one knows about and that event must happen. If it does not happen, he is a false prophet and he should be killed. If the event does happen, the prophet should never talk about worshiping any other G-d but the ONE TRUE G-D of the universe. If he does, the prophet must be killed. John asserts that the crowed said that Moses fed them Manna from heaven, when all passages in Exodus and Deuteronomy clearly say that G-d did these miracles and Moses was the agent.  Jesus then quotes three passages that call out what every Jew has believed in for 3500 years that G-d gave Israel manna from heaven and sustained them through the 40 years in the wilderness. What does not align with Tanakh is Jesus's claim that the son has the power to give eternal life. Jesus claims that god gave him the power. unfortunately I am not aware of any passages in Tanakh that say that we need to beli

Did David write that Jesus will have zeal for G-d's temple? ~ Cross reference of John 2:13 to Psalm 69:10

Image
John has Jesus start his miracles with turning water into wine. The messiah in Tanakh is not supposed to be a miracle worker. If you know of any passages that say the messiah will need to do miracles, do share the reference. Galilee region was on adrenalin before, during & after the time of Jesus and there were at least 3 messiahs [claimants at least] who came from this region before Jesus. You can read about them by clicking this link.  Likewise during 1 CE there were Jewish Rabbis who were thought to have powers to perform miracles. Greco Roman world would not accept a leader if he was not a man-god and these people were thought to have performed miracles Click to read. All that said, Psalm 69 is not about Jesus having zeal for G-d's house. This Psalm is about David's zeal for G-d and his sanctuary.  All Images are links to Google Images. Did disciples see angels come up and down to meet Jesus? ~ Cross reference of John 1:50 to Genesis 29:10

Image
Click this link to see how Rabbi Michael Skobac debunks messianic prophecies that Jesus supposedly fulfilled. You will see these prophecies turning out to be [fore]shadows, clouds, connections, parallels, types, mirrors ... that make you wonder why Christians come up with these connections. Are they misguided or they love Jesus so much, that they see Jesus in everything. Thankfully NIV does not call this one as a prophecy but gives a cross reference to Genesis 29:10 which is about Jacob's ladder. I think John[Church father(s)] are trying to say that Tanakh has a fore[shadow] that angels will come up and down a ladder and have quality time with Jesus.  All Images are links to Google Images. Did god tell John the dipper that Jesus is the chosen servant of god? ~ Cross reference of John 1:32 to Isaiah 42:1

Image
You find this cross reference in Matthew 12:15 but in John's gospel, John the dipper bears this witness about Jesus.  If you read the post on Matthew you will see that Jesus heals and preaches and tells the people not to tell anyone and thereby fulfills Isaiah 42:1  In John's gospel he makes a stronger claim that John the dipper got this message from god directly. You can read why Isaiah 42 is not about Jesus by clicking on this link All Images are links to Google Images. Copyright violations not intended. Was John the dipper the voice calling out in the wilderness? ~ Cross reference of John 1:23 to Isaiah 40:3

Image
Finally we are out of the synoptic gospels and hope we have new opportunities to see if the Greek text cross references Tanakh correctly. I believe John has a very high level of Christology and it will be good to review them in context. John the dipper event is similar to the other 3 gospels so I will direct you to the post that already covers this cross reference to Isaiah 40:6 One point to call out is John [church father[s] who wrote this gospel] are very clear and more accurate that John the dipper is the voice of Isaiah 40. They make sure that John the dipper also denies he being Elijah. This does not however solve the issue Matthew & Luke make Jesus insist that John the dipper was indeed Elijah who came to make the way clear for him as it is written  Malachi 3:1 [which by the way is talking about a messenger / angel] Malachi 3:23 [Malachi 4:5 in the Greek text] is where you see G-d saying that Elijah will come before the great and awesome day of G-d not the messiah. While we a
